98 yamaha wolverine rear axle dilemna
#1
I have a 1998 Yamaha Wolverine in need of a new rear axle. The axle is completely rounded, and the housing (ring gear) is pretty worn but not nearly as bad. My question is, should I just buy the axle and swap it in or replace the axle along with the housing. The axle is $250 and I already have the diff. bearing/seal kit. The housing/ring gear is $200. Should I not be a cheap *** and just do it all, or try and cheat. It's in great shape except for that. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Anyone with the needed parts for sale will be idolized. Email me at eatpoo2@comcast.net if you have any of the used parts I need.

A number of guys have just replaced the axle and been fine. It's all about your peace of mind.
This problem is fairly common to 97-98 Wolvs. Dunno whether they had lower quality steel in the axles or what.
