Default Air duct on scrambler transmission?

I bought a used Scambler last week and going over the engine there is a short little rubber tube connected to the top of what looks like the transmission/belt/clutch? casing. It looks like some automotive hose connected with a ring clamp.

From what I can tell there's supposed to be some plastic piece here some kind of clutch air vent?

Anybody know exactly what this is and how important it is? I'm guessing the original owner broke this piece and replaced it with this quick hack. I bought it from a polaris dealership and they didn't point it out so I don't know if it's a big problem or no?

Thanks for any input.

OK I think I found the right part there sure looks different than what's on there now. I wonder why they would have replaced it like that, do they break easily or something?

the white tube to the front w/ rad overflow is the clutch duct inlet and teh black one on the top of the CVT cover is the outlet.

You are looking for the clutch intake boot p/n 5410421, it usually has zip cable ties on there or some will put hose clamps on for a better seal.

The one that's missing is the one at the top front of the CVT cover, the outlet vent I think?

I found a parts manual but I still need to figure out exactly which parts I need.

Thanks for the tips!

It is the outlet your talking about but for some reasom polaris calls it the
clutch "intake" boot, p/n 5410421 in the parts manual.

Thanks guys. Your clarification on inlet/outlet Jim makes it easier to understand!!

I think the part I need is 5432615 (and 5410421 and 2 hose clamps). Somebody actually replaced the entire duct with a piece of automotive hose though I have no clue why!
