Default 28" Tires On A 2005 800 Sportsman??

Hello,
I found a set of 28 inch Outlaw tires mounted on chrome rims with very little use on them for 500 bucks. I can get 28 x 12.5's I think for the rear and the option of 28 x 10.5's or 28 x 9.5's for the fronts. Can I use the 12.5's on the rear and the 10.5's on the front without them rubbing? Some have said up and down they should fit, with a possible minor rub on full compression, how about about turning? Will they rub when I turn? Also, will putting the 28's on my machine be hard on the CV joints and shafts? I will be keeping the original tires and wheels for trail riding and these mud tires for playing in the mud and water. I want to get them this weekend yet if I can. If I need to get spacers to widen them out,,, that wont be bad. Not so sure on a lift though. Any help here is appreciated.

Thanks

Rob

personal i went w/ 27" for that reason of did want to over burned my cv's and other drine line parts. speaking from somebody who just replaced one its not fun when you have to much power and resitance, somethings has to give and its the cv's. i noticed that w/ the itp rims that i have more clearance up front now between the 9" vs. the stock 8" and the strut. so make sure the crome ones your getting will actually fit with room to spare as so in the mud you dont catch a rock or something to get caught between. just my 2 cents.

The backs will probably be OK. I had 12" wide on my machine with plenty of clearance. The front 10.5s will probably rub and the 9.5s will probably be OK....but really can not say for sure because it all depends on the offset of the wheels. Also, I would bet you'll get rubbing against the fender wells with 28s. You need to do some research directly with wheel/tire dealers and/or a Polaris dealer who have all the compatability charts and info.

i still say you better try them on the front first to make sure they dont rub on the strut. if the the off set isnt right you'll have big problems with them hitting. i can tell you that the stock rims w/ 9" fronts would hit the strut for sure.

Yes, the offset here is the key. I have 27" Mudzilla's on stock rims. I can't even get the tires to go on the front, if I wanted to. I used 1.5" spacers al the way around. I have plenty of clearance now, except for the rear, On a dip in the trail by back tires sometimes rub the rear fender cab. I plan on stiffening up my springs to correct this. I do, however, have plenty of clearance between the front tires struts and rear tires IRS linkage. I also have plenty of clearance between the tires and all fenders near the footwells. I can also turn and brake hard at the same time without rubbing the front tires to anything! Hope this helps.
