... they look sliver (or rusty) ... they trip when over heated or over loaded, but i've seen them rusty and trip on and off without a rime or reason.

took it apart, can`t fiind these breakers.started up and it keeps bogging out at 3600rpm, it will idle the very best. took the plug out and it is very black.need more help please.

The breakers are under the front nose cone but they are in black plastic water sealed bags. If you open these they will not be waterproof anymore. I dont think that is the problem. Sounds like something in the carb. If the plug is black it is rich. Check your choke make sure it is not sticking, maybe reverse override button is bad and hitting reverse limit rpm's, shifter indicator on the tranny could be bad thinking it is in reverse and hitting limiter. Did you try holding the reverse override button and seeing if the rpm's go up? Why did they replace the clutches. Sounds kind of premature to replace them this soon. Did it run good prior to going to the dealer?

started it up held the override button same thing it bogged and stalled at 3600rpm,started it back up let it idle then pulled out the choke cable and it stalled pushed the choke cable back in and it started fine.replaced the clucths because there was 4 hair line cracks on them.dealer figures plowing caused it.5000 miles on the bike.

gave up and took it in to the dealer , it turned out being the stator beening the problem. more money spent on this bad 04 500ho.just wondering if anyone else heard of people replacing stator? very discouraged about my bike!!!!

Part of life man, I've replaced stators on bikes with under 500 miles, and some that last over 20,000 miles. This goes for every brand out there. The biggest thing with them is moister and corrosion. Accidently leaving the pull rope handle off the seal or it gets jerked off and you did not know it during a ride. Water gets in it and after a while it takes its toll on the parts in there. It happens. Don't get too discouraged. I bet you are thinking now, I ain't ever used it or I know I put it back, but that good buddy who grabbed it and didn't know any better has filled my cover up 2 times. So I go home and drain it and spray it down with lube and hope for the best. Hope this makes you feel better. Though the 300 dollar+ price tag is hard to swallow.
