Default Procedure to jet '02 Grizzly carb

I've got a new to me 2002 Grizzly 660 that I probably need to re-jet, seeing as it came from KS and I'm up here in NM at 6,000' (and only going higher- to 8,000). I know there's a lot of tricks to these things, so what's the easiest way to access the carb for jetting changes? Can I just loosen the clamps and rotate the carb?

Also, if anyone has any jetting specs for a stock '02 Grizzly 660 at 6,000' and up, I'd appreciate hearing them.

Thanks!

Going one size smaller( than stock size) on the main jet, and somewhere around 1/8 to 1/4 ,going in, on the mixture screw should be close. The size of the jet, is stamped on the side of the jet.
You might be able to rotate the carb, but i doubt it. It can be difficult, removing the screws on the float bowl, so get a good ACR Philips screw driver. The ribs on the blades, keep the screwdriver from camming out, and rounding the heads.

So, I'm basically going to have to drop the carb out then? Ugh. Can I do this w/out removing the tank? Just the side panels?

The bike is actually running pretty good. A little slow to warm up and idle, but once warm, I really don't have any complaints. But, I'm here at 6,000' right now and haven't been up to 8000' yet either.

BTW- forgot to mention that I've been riding dirt bikes about 30 years and have LOTS of experience in the actual jetting. Mostly just looking for tricks here and a starting point for the jetting (which you gave me- 1 step, maybe 2, oughta do it..).

I think I'll spend this afternoon finding out what jets are in the bike and then going from there.

Lots of guys just put holes in the lid of the air box . Then they either use the plastic plugs or duct tape to cover the holes. As you go up in thinner air, and experience the rich running, uncover the holes and lean it out, and as you go back down...cover them back up. A total of 6 ,1 inch holes should do it.
If its running good now...i wouldnt go more than one size smaller on the main.
