TRX300 4X4 lights stay on

Just got a '93 TRX300 4X4, and the lights come on when I turn it on. I disabled the thumb switch and it didn't make a difference...a relay somewhere? Thanks.

hmm wel you are using electric start to start it and your lights don't stay on one it is running I would say that the battery doesn't have enough juice or it could be the stator is bad

What happens is, when I turn the key, the lights come on. Light switch doesn't do anything, took it apart and the lights stayed on. New battery. Haven't had it running yet. (Waiting for part for fuel strainer.)
