I just bought a new 450 and was wondering how it compares to the new 700r. I have a Full DMC exhaust, K & N and i rejetted it. other than that is is completely stock. Thanks for the advice.

 

You'll need the HRC kit or equivlent to keep up with a piped 700R in a drag race. The 450R does handle better, its lighter, and more manuverable.

 

I dont know who u been racein but i have the 05 450R wit the HRC kit high compression pistion wit stage 2 cam and exhaust and i smoked the 700 raptor mihne has a 13.5.1 pistion and the 06 has the 12.5.1 and the 06 has more advance timeing thats the only diff stock to stock there equal but there not gonna run wit the an HRC kit exhaust and jetted iw ill placemoney on thatcause i have seen wit my own eyes

 

Exactly, thats kinda what I said or meant anyway. I don't know how an HRC equipped 06 compares to a piped 700R (haven't raced one yet) but I do know that just a piped/intaked 06 450R isn't going to cut it (raced 2 of them many times and lost 0 times)......[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif[/img]

 

not being an A$$ but i have a friend wit an 05 yfz450 if u beat him i will let u mouth all u want,it is stock and has beat yfz wit exhaust and air filter and jetted,some bikes r freaks and run better but if urs beats his i will get on my knees and say honda r slow lol dont get me wrong i hear good things about 700R but i have seen wit my own eyes maybe he dont know how to ride who knows i say 06 honda and a 700R 50/50 depends on rider

 

I don't mean to sound like I'm bashing the 450R at all. I like them alot and was my second choice but after riding them (piped 06 450Rs) I would definately go with the HRC kit especially now that I'm use to the power of the 700R which pulls a lot harder IMO.

I plan on being at St. Joes alot this year. Still need to get some tires though. That 700 you stomped, was it stock? There is a technic to drag racing the 700R. You have to get the shift points down cause its not just a "rev it to the max and shift" bike. Its actually slower that way or at least IMO it is.

 

Well after spending the weekend drag racing any and everything in 300ft drags. The raptor 700s with pipes got whooped by stock 450rs (06's) piped 05 450rs and my 450r with slip on and HRC kit. The yfz's were faster than the raptor 700s, too. The raptor 700s beat the piped 660s all day long and killed the LTZ 450 Quadracers that were there too. The LTZ 450 Quadracers are unimpressive to say the least. Very low on power. I raced my 450r with HRC and slip on against 2 different piped 700 raptors and they were shaking their heads after each race. I got the holeshot and stayed out in front of them. My buddy's cammed z400 was running right with every raptor 700 out there. We were in Busco Beach in North carolina. Not talking smack, just the truth.

 

Hwy man try a high compression pistion 13:5.1 u will be very happy
