Default Sportsman 700 AWD when in 2WD?

I jacked it up to make sure AWD was working and it was even when I switched back to 2wd the front tires still spun until I shut off AWD and put in reverse then back to high then it was in 2WD. Maybe it will only change back when switch is off/under a load(not freewheeling on a jack?) What is the problem? I shouldn't have to go in reverse to disengage the AWD system right?

It is very possible that it is harder to dissengage the AWD when it is free wheeling. I know the trucks I work on sometime it takes reverse to get them out. It may need to have all 4 wheels moving to assist it in disengageing and under pressure. As long as it goes into 2WD. I would say it is normal

I thought I had a problem also, Mine does the samething! I noticed mine because, I jack mine up to wash out the mud. I spin the tires while pressure washing them. To verify AWD not on all the time, I hit a mudhole with it off, only the back wheels spun. Maybe the pressure theory is correct. I am not worried about it. If yours is broke, then mine is too!!! It doesn't sound normal for your handle bars to shake when going down the road in AWD. I would get it checked out. These front hillards are very sensitive and if the plastic and paper parts are slightly out of phase, the AWD system will not work correctly. I'm also having some issues with hard steering when in AWD. I'm just kidding about the paper parts...

Plastic parts in the front diff might as well be paper. Poor design! Im on my 3rd front diff.
