I have an 01 DS that I switched from Alky to Race gas. I am trying to mount the fan back up, but wasn't sent the little metal shims. Without them the bolt head is pulling through the plastic holder on the fan housing for the bolt. Any ideas? They are backordered at BOMB with no expected eta. I have shrouds, engine ice and an esr temp gauge... I am this |-| close to just leaving the darn thing off. Leaving for a trip on Thursday and way too much stuff to do so no time to weld the 02 new mounts on.

You could stack a bunch of small washer's to create the 1/2 inch needed. but that's allot of washer's.

 

Send me a PM with your e-mail. I've got some brand new shims in the garage somewhere I ordered and never used. Do you need 4? I think they are still in the original OEM packaging.

 

I believe thats what was killing the early design of the fans. I remounted mine by first removing the rad (pain in the _ _ _) then mounting 2 flat bars of metal accross the 2 supports. I drilled small holes in them then pressed in carrage bolts, you know the kind with flat tops and a square underside so that they would not turn.

I have now had the same fan in for over 3 years, no failures and no having to retighten and buy more stupid shims.
