Reverse Lights and Reverse Over-ride Mod
#1
Just got done makeing my own circuit to control the reverse lights and to bypass the reverse over ride button. This is awesome I love it already. I backed my Bike into the dark garage and it lite my way. I know I could've just hit the switch but it is so cool for it to happen automaticly. The reverse Bypass works awesome too. I wired it perfectly so it bypass's the rev limiter and turns on the awd without affecting the functionality of the switch during to other gears for hour meter and tach operation. I did this all by makeing 6 simple connections and useing 2 relays. Very easy to do if anyone else wants to know how just pm me and I will create a wiring diagram that anyone can follow. I know this may be a useless post but I thought it was so cool that I wanted to share. Tomorrow I takle the three headlight mod.

Thats pretty cool, useful for the
dark woods when coming out
dragging DEER. I know my spot Its
tight I need to keep doing 3-point turns to
get in/out. I would be interested
in this wiring diagram (gbepny@msn.com)
Also, I read some other threads about
wiring up the front headlights so all lights
are on vs, Big center bars or Little-side.

Here is the wiring diagram. I tried to make it as simple as possible. If you have any question please feel free to E-Mail me at Cory.MacSween@Sympatico.ca. I split the circuits into two different ones useing a yellow block just incase you don't want to do both the reverse lights and the reverse over-ride mod. If you are doing both just disregarde the yellow block.

It took me about 20 to 30 minutes. But that was with me trying to figure out how to do it. I originally tried it a different way but had to do it this way so it took me a bit to get it working. But now it works great. All three relays are standard automotive relays you can find at any auto parts store and the pin location on the picture matches up with the actual relay. You can combine two into a single DPDT relay but trying to keep it simple I used three standard relays that can ussually be found lieing around a persons garage.

Just to add some clarification...
The reverse limiter and awd lock-out bypass does NOT affect the yellow buttons ability to cycle through the Trip Odometer, The Odometer, The Tachometer, Or the Hourmeter.

More good tips, it would so seem
that this would work on my 06'
450, essentially since they are
the same macine, bigger engine
(yours). Only thing I am hesitate
on is the my extended warrenty
coverage.

I can't see the dealer voiding your warranty on the machine because of this. My geuss is they wouldn't even notice it if you do a nice job. But if it came right down to it and they had to do warranty work on a related system I would remove it since it is only 6 connections.

The wireing would be the same if it is EFI or Carb. Because the circuit splices into systems that are on both EFI and Carb modles. Only one way to find out, open the pod see if you have the two wires one brown and one grey with an orange stripe, the wires will have loom around it so you will have to pull it back a bit. Every other wire is going to be the same. But in case they are not I will help you find the right wires, either way I will help you finish the mod untill you get it done. Same with anyone else.
Oh and might I mention that the way my diagram is made, you can seperate the over-ride from the reverse lights and do just the reverse lights by ignoreing the relay past the yellow block. Or you can do both by ignoreing the yellow block. But you can't do just the reverse limiter over-ride. If you want to do just the over-ride with no reverse lights tell me and I will modify the circuit.
