Default Fan & LCD display quit working, now won't even start!

The fan on my buddy's '05 Grizzly stopped working. We verified that the thermal switch is fine and the fan works when we power it up with 12 volts. Shortly after he started having issues with the fan not coming on, the LCD display also stopped working. The backlighting comes on if you turn the headlights on, but nothing else on it seems to work at all. Then, all of the sudden, the quad won't even fire when you turn it over. He used a spark checker to verify spark, and he says he has good spark that will jump a 1/2" gap. I told him it's got to be lacking fuel, timing or compression. He did a lot of researching on internet and talking to people and wound up convinced that his stock CDI was crapping out (maybe this would allow spark but timing was now way off??). He ordered a new DynaTek and received it yesterday. Plugged it in and still nothing. He's ready to take it to the nearest dealer, but they won't be able to look at it until sometime next week. Anybody have any other suggestions??? Thanks in advance. By the way, he has a factory manual now and says he can't find anything at all on troubleshooting the LCD display, or if the problem with that could be in any way related to the fan and/or no fire problem.

I guess I can't assume anything, so I'll have him make sure. It does turn over fine, and he says he has a good, strong spark though.

The display will go nuts and your machine will even run with loose connections....

He hasn't, but he did put it in the drink (found some thin ice) for probably close to 24 hours last winter. So even though he has good spark, it still wouldn't start? Are you thinking the spark is intermittent or something, or are you thinking the timing is screwed up now?
