Default cylinder removal on 2002 yamaha wolverine

How do I bring the piston to Top Dead Center so I can take the head off of the cylinder? Also can anyone tell me what the torque specs are on a 2002 yamaha wolverine for the head and cylinder? Thanks

when i adjust the valves on my 350 i used a screw driver take the spark plug out and i find it easier to just take the side plate off so you can get to the bolt that goes to the crank its easy to get to just a few bolts get a socket that fits it and slowly turn it over and with the screwdriver u can feel when the piston reaches the top...

Take the cam timing gear cover off - since you are pulling the head, you will need to have this cover off anyway to get the cam gear and then timing chain off. The cam gear has an indexing mark stamped into it. That mark has to line up with the index mark cast into the head itself at approx. 12 O'Clock in the cam gear opening. It's along the same plane as the O-Ring mating surface for the cover.
