First and last Honda!

Hello all, I'm new here. Wife bought me a new Rancher AT for Christmas. What a disappointment! We drove 450 miles round trip to Chattanooga Tn. to buy it ,saved $1300 over local dealers. Got it home engine will not run without being choked, called Chattanooga dealer they said it just needs running. After 106 miles Transmission breaks, engine still not running right. I take it to my nearest dealer he says I have to wait 3 weeks before he will even look at it because I didn't buy from him. I contact my next nearest dealer he says he will take care of it, he fixes tranny (shift motor) takes carb apart and cleans it but can't find anything wrong. As of 1/20/07 I have ridden my atv 3 days and it has been in the shop for 22 days still have not gotten it back. I wish I had my money back.

Sorry about your problems and I know you are upset but it is very rare to get one with problems.
Turn the little black **** on the right side of the machine above the motor in a clockwise direction to get it to run without the choke. I had to do the same thing on ours. Its probably just not set right.

Thanks ForemanDan for the reply. Are you talking about the idle adjustment screw? Shouldn't the dealer know to make this adjustment? The mechanic at the Honda dealer thinks the jets in carb were stamped with the wrong number. He has ordered some new ones they will be in tuesday. I learned my lesson about trying to save money, I should have bought from my local dealer. I can't help but think that the atvs being sold in Chattanooga for so much less are factory rejects or seconds.

I too am sorry to hear about your problems. I know this won't make it right, but after it is fixed hopefully you still come out ahead (except time) with the money you saved. Our dealers in St. Louis (most anyways) are absolutely ridiculous when it comes to their prices. I don't think they need to match TN's prices (Southern Honda & Abernathy's) but they aren't even remotely close. I know you are frustrated, and I would be too, but there is no way that those dealerships sell "factory rejects or seconds". Honda isn't going to risk their worldwide reputation on 2 dealerships in TN.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy Honda. I have no doubts your quad will be fixed. Hopefully sooner rather than later, but don't let your dealer hold it over your head that you didn't buy it there. They are in business to do service work 1st, and sell ATV's 2nd.

They are not seconds or rejects. I bought two quads from there a year ago. I am willing to bet that they along with Abernathy's sell 25% or more of all the Hondas sold in the southeast part of the US.

One quick question for ya how old is the atv because there may be a possibility that it was a laftover from hurricane katrina...If so that coul explain why it was so much less then local dealers and there may we water in the engine causing some problems with it.
