I have a chance to pick up a set of 28 inch tires for my Grizzly. Is this a problem waiting to happen as far as putting too much stress on axles and drivetrain? Will I have to get a clutch kit? I have no problem putting a lift kit on it to help with the rubbing and I have read about people using clutch rollers from a Kodiak to make up for the larger wheels. Thanks.

 

Your power is only as strong as the weakest link. Therefore I would definitely put some type of clutch kit on it. It may not be nesseccary right away but do it soon.

 

I have two 2004 Grizzlys. One has 28" Mudlites, and the other has 27" Mudlites. I have broken a front axle on each, and a rear on the one with the 28's. I have never found any situation where the clutch was a problem on either machine. My Brother-in-law has an 05 Grizz with 27" Mudlites. He has snapped both rear axles but not a front.

The 28" tires will self-clearance your fender skirts, but they will not wear through. The 28's seem to go much better in all situations. They squash better at 2psi.
