Default wolverine 350 starter

I have a 2000 wolverine and the stater makes a clanking noise every time I try to turn it over. I put a new stater in it and it still does the same thing. Some times it won't start so I have to move the quad a little bit to get it to engage. If anyone knows what this problem is I would love to know. Thank you.

Could be what passes for the flywheel (not sure if that is the correct term with atvs or not) has a chipped tooth.

Sounds like your starter clutch is getting ready to go. About $200 for parts to replace. You might as well replace it before it goes out. As it gets worse, it may still start the engine, but it'll be tearing itself apart and dumping metal shavings into your oil.
