How many of you ride Warriors in the dunes? Do you use 8 paddle or 6 paddle tires? I'm running with 8 paddle tires now, but I have heard that 4-strokes should stick to 6 paddles. What's your opinion?

Great question. I was wanting to buy paddle tire for our Warriors, but wasn't sure either. I hear that more paddles will eat up power. I find it difficult to believe that just 2 more paddles would make such a big difference, but I've never used paddle tires.
I have similar mods to my Warrior, so whoever responds to this topic will be answering it for both of us. Thanx

I have heard that 4 strokes shold have less aggressive paddle tire (lower paddle heights & less paddles). I tried Kenda Trackers on my wifes warrior and did care for them. To me the Trackers seemed to spin more than hook-up or grab. Her quad is mostly stock with only a Supertrapp pipe and jetting. I did just pick up a pair of Sand Sharks (by GBC) which are more agressive for her quad. I'll find out how they work in about a week when we hit the dunes. Here's a few sites you can check and call to discuss what type is best for your needs:

I ran 8-paddle Scat-trak Edges on my stock 400EX and they were awesome. They don't climb as well as straight paddles. Next time I'd probably get the Haulers. Sand Sports Magazine did a tire test a couple years ago where they used a Warrior. If I'm not mistaken, the tires that worked best on the Warrior we the 11-paddle Gliders. Lots of little paddles seemed to be the best combination. Or if you're really serious, STU can groove a pair of Sand Skate I's for you. Woohoo.

I ran 8-paddle Skat-Trak Edges on a Warrior, and it did great. I don't like the Haulers, because if you are on an off-camber, they will let your rear end slide sidways. I run 10-paddle edges on the 400EX, and I have to say, I prefer the Warrior to the 400 in the sand! I don't know what it is, but even with 10-paddles the 400 tends to dig holes. I'm geared low, so I think there is just to much torque.

Do yourself a favor, dont run less than at least 8
paddles....anything less is not enough...
You can run 9 or 10 paddles also, its just preferance....8 should work just fine...

i think u should get some sand skate II's. i run them on my 330EX, and they do great, they r very durable and popular where i ride on 4 strokes, they are just like the sand sharks, v-paddle, and the paddles are not glued on like edges or haulers.
any paddle will lug ur motor down in the sand, just the more paddles and weight and height, the harder they are too turn
