Default 02 Rancher 350 fuel/issues

Hey guys got a question on the topic bike. Just got this bike and the guy who I bought it from said he'd reccomend having the carb cleaned but the bikes idle will smooth out once it warms up. I guess the carb looked a lil varnished from what he said. This bike hasn't smoothed out after 10 minutes of idle/ride @ 32 degrees roughly. I trust the dude I got this from so it's not an issue of me being snaked, just curious if somebody might have a suggetion on a possible additive, overlook or should I just go ahead and drop 65 bucks and have it cleaned. It runs decent but it seems like you have to baby-sit the throttle. It does backfire some and the air filter is clean. Any ideas?

I got a batch of dirty fuel once, and had to clean the carbs on every one of my machines! If it's new to you, might be a good idea to clean it and start with a new slate. Take the fuel tank off, and rinse it out too.

got an update... took this bike out to see if a country block would cure it's hiccup. actually carried an idle but not before i took this basically stock machine through 5-7 " of mud. hehe. I was actually pretty impressed as the only other 4x4 I have owned was a scrambler 4x4 2 stroke. was a piece of.... well anyway after a decent cool down period same old thing. Doesnt want to carry an idle. @ this point im thinking clean the carb, maybe it needs jetted? dunno....

Run some Seafoam through the fuel system before you tear into the carb. It comes highly recomended by others and I have used it in some of my vehicles to help keep the fuel system clean.

im fairly comfortable around wrenches heck i had to be, owned a 2000 cannondale. lol i will give the sea foam a shot and if that doesnt do the trick i will go ahead and pull the carb. shouldnt have to tear apart anything that would require re adjustments. ill probably just soak the whole thing in gas and try to break the crud up if the fuel cleaner doesnt do the trick. tnx guys

ok.... finally got it figured out. It was dirty jets. ended up pulling the carb and giving it a good cleaning but it really wasnt all that dirty. the jets were a lil nasty but the only problem I created for myself was taking the bladder out of the carb as it did not want to go back in. lost a lil hp as a result. ill order one i think there like 60 bucks. tnx 4 the help ppl.
