400ex carb rebuild
#1
I want to either rebuild my stock carb on the 400ex, or get a aftermarket one on ebay. Has anybody used a Edelbrock carb on there bike. I have only heard about what Edelbrock makes for street cars, and it is not good. I have found some rebuild kits that are a lot less, and if the after market carb does not make a large improvement then I want to save the money.

I have never had to rebuild a Honda stock carb and I have had lots of Honda stuff. You may need to clean pilot jet from sitting too long. You may need to re jet. Gaskets or O rings could be replaced. Stripped phillips head screws can be replaced. So why not just tear your stocker down and repair only what it needs?
Edelbrook carbs are popular with the XR400 motorcycle riders because it will improve the slight off idle hesitation issue. I just live with this by turning up idle a little.
