Default keeping the gas flowing...

I have a couple of scramblers, and i'm a newbie, and i was riding the 500 around today on some hills in a pit and some small jumps, and after a few of them it kept bogging down when i gave it gas. after about 30 seconds or so it would clear up and run fine. I'm thinking i got some air in the lines when i tipped back far enough for the gas in the tank (which was about 3/4 full) to uncover the gas line inside the tank, or when i was sloshing it around on the jumps.
how do you guys keep the gas flowing? should i just keep it on reserve instead? i have gas caps with gauges so i dont have to worry about running dry.
i have a 400 too but i havent tried anything special on that yet, still breaking in a rebuilt engine.

thanks!

are you sure its that, or is it because the flaot is getting messed up when your jumping?

hmmmmmm...
i've taken apart a carb before and i know where the float is...but how could it get 'messed up'? and how is this fixed if it is?
and i dont think it is, because this happened when my son was using it a couple days before only when he climbed a steep hill, he didnt do any jumps.
what do you think?
thanks!

500s will wheelie for 45-60 seconds on a near empty tank before the carb runs dry. I'm with stendori on this one; float level. If the engine sounds like it is starving for fuel, then the float level is too low.

unless something is messed up w/ it in the tank it would be near impossiable to have it running out of gas becuase of a jump or going up a hill. if you would choke this when its starts to run bad and it helps it then its a lack of gas flow and if it makes it worse then its too much gas. the float level should be fairly level. i dont have a book to give the proper messurement using the gauge.

I can remember my ol Scrammy dying when pullin long wheelies, but never climbing hills or jumps. But I also don't really have any long steep hills around or big jumps LOL. How much of an angle are these hills, and how long in seconds are you going up?? If it's less than 45 seconds, I would say you have a problem. If they made an EFI IRS Scrambler I would be all over it, but thats another post LOL
