Recon submerged in h2o,now what?
#1
My recon went for a swim last night and stalled submerged. After standing quad on rear rack and draining water from exhaust pipe, check oil (clean) and air filter(slightly wet on bottom) Quad will start right up and idle great but stall when throttle opens even slighlty.Tryed to throttle with airbox lid off,no change. I think it is a air intake problem but not sure..any advice is welcome and appreciated...thanks ....

Thanks redrider, thats what is was.Drained about two teaspoons full of water out of bottom of float bowl and flushed fresh gas through and running great now.In the process of changing oil now,no evidence of water in oil. Thanks again....bill

Rodemy recon hard and loved it, it would even float with my little butt on it. They only problems I ever had was water in the intake and the carb vents. Rerouted the hoses and raised the air intake and it was unstoppable in water. Never a problem after that.

Thanks everyone,Had to get towed home two miles up 30 degree inclines in the dark.Tryed to go up this small stream which had about a three foot hole deep hole I didn't see in the center. Funny thing is,I tryed to drain the float bowl on the trail last night but the cheesy little screw driver that comes in the tool kit is a joke.I carry alot of stuff in the box/seat combination mounted on the rear rack but a larger screwdriver wasn't one of them (yes, there's one there now).Once the water was removed, ran like a champ.Oil was dark but no milky discoloration or water/oil separation.Guess I got lucky!!!.........Thanks for everyones input..take care,bill.....ps,If water did go through the carberator and into the head, would the water seap down into the oil sump or would it stay trapped in the head?
