Default Rancher 350 4x4 'thinks' it's in Reverse!! Killing me!

Ok guys...

I've had my 2001 Rancher 350 4x4 for over 5 years. It's never done anything wrong, and I mean NOTHING wrong. Not a cough, flinch, hiccup, absolutely nothing.

I was pulling trees out of my backyard with it the other day and I noticed the reverse light stayed on even after shifting out of Reverse. Stupid me... What do I do? I turn it off, thinking OH.. Just shut it down and start it back up and I'll be good to go. I am sure you know the rest of the story! D-E-A-D.

The started won't engage because the machine "thinks" it is in Reverse. It's not in reverse I rode the thing around a bit more after the light stayed on. It shifts just fine.

I'm thinking sensor... The only question is..... Where the *ell is the thing????

Can anybody help me..... I need my little utlity tractor... It's spring time and I have a bunch of yard work to do!!!!

Sincerely,

Bnash88

I know these rancher electric shifts have had problems before but don't know a whole lot about the remedies but one thing you might try is to disconnect the battery and then reconnect in hopes that the electrical sensors will reset when reconnected. just a thought.

Rocking the machine back and forth while trying to shift may be another idea. Good Luck!

Maybe it's a "BROKE-BACK RANCHER"...........LOL. Just kidding. I don't know where tie sensor is, but call the local dealers service department. I bet they would tell you over the phone where to look for it.
