Default sub frame problems

drake2:

I also have a late 06 Hawkeye. I asked the same question a couple of months ago.

Apparently, no one here has seen both units closely enough to be able to describe the differences. I think the best answer that came out of that thread was to take a careful look at the front mounts for the upper control arm. Memorize what it looks like, including how thick the metal is in the mounting tab. Maybe even take apicture. Then, go to a dealer and compare it in your mind to what you see on an 07 model.

BTW: I have not done this yet.

Good luck.

As far as I know none of the 06's came with the updated subframe, the front lower rear arm mount has an extra larger bracket welded to the original bracket and the subframe. I replaced mine on the 06 which developed a small crack after 1200 miles. They're not hard to change, the 07 sub bolts right up no problem. I think Polaris has been taking care of this for the most part, mine was under warranty. Look for cracks in the welds/paint and rust lines.......
