Default Polaris Sportsman to plow snow???

I'm looking at getting a 4x4 quad to plow my driveway in the winter, my driveway is 14' wide and 150' long and another section that is 8' wide and 100' long. Right now I just shovel for about an hour and then drive my truck up and down the remaining part of my driveway to pack it down. So, I'm in the market to purchase an atv to plow the driveway for me, and this will also be my extra quad for my wife to ride around when we go up to our cabin in the summer.

Right now I'm leaning towards a polaris sportsman because I like their glacier snow plow system, but I'm unsure of what years I should look for and the size quad. I've seen a few I thought about going to take a look at, one is a 04' Sportman 400 with 80 hrs on it, second is a 04' 500 and a third is an 02' 700 EFI with 800 miles on it.

I want to be around $4000.00 for a 4x4 ATV and a plow system, but I could go higher if needed.

Please give me any feedback.

Thanks in advanced,

Matt

Polaris, along with Arctic Cat are the two best brands for plowing, IMO due to the weight advantage. You made a wise choice

I have plowed with a 500HO a 700 EFI and an 800EFI they all do quite well, unless you have over a foot of heavy wet stuff then it takes a long while, but I was quite impressed on what these Sportsmans can push for snow, and like someone said before definately an weight advantage.

i like a 5ft snowplow ,they weigh more and the extra weight make a big differents in heavy snow or ice. the 5ft blade is still wider then the bike when angled. i have a cycle country plow for my yamy ,but now that i bought a 500 x2 i will just make me a new bracket . i would much rather plow any drive way with a atv then a truck , you won't tear up near as often. it ony take one more trip in and out with the 5ft'er.

A Sportsman 400 or 500 should do the job fine. I use a 03 Quest 650XT with a 5' Moose County plow, and it works great. It helps having a heavy quad like I have (760lbs. dry weight?), to push the snow! Our driveway is at least 12' by at least 450' long, with the majority of it up an incline. It is fun pushing snow downhill, but a little more tougher pushing it uphill! But my quad has done it many times.
