Explorer high/low tranny into Scrambler questions
My Scrambler has become more of a workhorse than a trail machine, so having high and low ranges would be easier on the belt and make towing and plowing easier. I've tried going down to a 12 tooth drive sprocket, but it didn't make a whole ot of difference. First, I'll find a tranny from a 95-98 Explorer 400 so it is not concentric drive, like my Scrambler. Does the transmission bolt right in, or will I need to fab some new mounts for it? How about chain and sprockets...can I reuse the parts from the Scrambler? What have guys done for the shifting lever. Can I use the lever off my Scrambler or will I need to find an assembly off an Explorer?
