Just replaced my rear axle bearings and why i had everything off I decided to replace the chain and both sprokets. I have everything apart still but I am having trouble getting the nut off my front sproket. Even in gear when I try to loosen the nut the transmission just slips. Is there an eay way to get it off? thanks

 

When I took my warriors off, I just had to get a really long wrench to get enough torque to break it loose.

 

Does the chain have to be on or is my tranny just messed up and is slipping with pressure?

 

What I would do is to put the transmission in 1st gear for max. resistance, get a cold-cut chisle and a hammer and strike the nut a few times to break it free, it should just spin off with your fingers after that. The sprocket nut on my old warrior was only really on a little more than finger tight anyway. The retaining washer is what keeps it from backing off.

What he said is spot on. I sometimes use a small pipe wrench as well.

 

yeah make sure the retaining washer is flattened all the way and if you still have trouble, a little heat will help things out. take a plumbers torch to the nut and it should come off easier. and like NLWarrior01 said, you dont have to torque the thing down, just snug the nut up when reinstalling, the washer will keep it there. G/L.

 

An impact gun works wonders. I dont have one either, so I always take the nut off with it in 1st gear and hold the rear brake (with the chain on).
