2005 polaris sportsman not running right

2005 polaris sportsman not running right
I have a 2005 700 sportsman and I am trying to find out what may be wrong with it. It will start up but when I give it gas it goes dead. Has anyone else had this problem or know what might be going on?

check to see if the throttle override is kicking in to kill the engine. its designed to prevent it taking off w/ full throttle being stuck. just a thought. the throttle should have about 1/8" gap or play.
