2007 honda Rancher 420 4x4
#1
Picking up a new Rancher in the next day or two and getting a warn winch put on it, just wondering whats the biggest tire size I can put on there with no rub cause the stock 24's arent gonna satisfy me but for a few rides. I'm wanting to put 26s on , has anybody else run those ? Also are there service manuals available for the 07's ?

This is a light little trail machine. My experience has been that big tires/large offset rims just ruin this quad's sweet handling characteristics! It creates a lot of bump steer, and the 4wd fights you, like if I had lockers (all the time). You will turn a nice machine into a hard to handle clunker....
If you are looking for a monster mud quad or something like that, I would look for something bigger (that has big tires to start with). If what you want a sweet handling little trail machine...then that is the 420 with stock tires!

I would agree with not getting crazy with the tire size, I still have stockers on mine but could see how it might not respond well to big tires. If I get the urge for larger tires, I think I'd would go to 25s and call it good, that is unless your just muddin.

picked up the rancher on wednesday and I only got to ride it for a few minutes , so far I love it and cant wait to take it out on the trails. The guys at the dealership informed me that I can fit 26's on it , so I'm prob gonna either go with them or 25's swamp foxes cause we do a lot of trail/mud riding. We're heading up to Tenn. above knoxville to some riding park for the weekend. My buddy has a 06 big bear with the 26's and it rides good so it can't make my rancher ride too bad.

Don't even start it up again until you read this: http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm
Best to do a very early oil/oil filter change, to get the metal shavings out of the engine first thing. Same with the front differentail and rear drive gear case. Stick with petroleum oil during break-in, the you can switch to synthetic later if you wish.
Be sure to do a valve adjustment at 20 hours!

However, your shop may have them in stock and you don't have to pay shipping.

Also, avoid driving off with your fuel valve still closed! I have done it twice now, and it will go a surprising distance with the valve off. (The valve is on the right side on the 420, and I am use to valves on the left side since I was a kid.) Can't be good at all for the fuel pump though.....
