How to find out the year of my atv?
#1
Hello all,
Just made a impulse buy of an old atv. Saw one standing, fully covered with dust, as an unfinished project and I offered to buy it. Got it with rather good price and now wondering what to do next. Guy did not have any docs left and did not recall when he actually got it... Probably it is rather early version of honda
I got following numbers from the engine MC06E - 3010845 and KB4. It should be 250 cc engine.
Pics can be found here
Any info on year is most welcome and also all hints where to buy service manual are awaited
PS. tried to search with MC06E, but could not find anything useful.

Hope this helps..

What you have is a mixbag of confusion. That engine is from a 1983 Honda CM250C motorcycle. It's a twin cylinder engine almost identical tothe one Honda still uses in the 250 Rebel. Sounds powerful for a 250 engine on paper, but in reality that engine isn't cranking but 16 horses tops. A stock 300EX is more poweful...and lighter than this engine.
As for the frame, I have no idea what that is, but is nothing from any of the Japanese makers. Looks to be Chinese. Single front A-arms??? And the rear end is waaay too bulky and overkill for a sport ATV. Unsprung weight must be off the charts. Can't be a well mannered machine in the handling department.
As for the plastics, the front piece looks TRX250R and the rear piece looks like a Kawasaki Tecate 4 fender modified for utility use. Odd.
My advise to you would be to ebay this stuff or see what a local salvage yard would offer you for it. Not trying to deter a man from his project....I love a challenge myself. But I dont see any of this worth investing time or money into. Just my opinion.

WoW. It seems that my **** si deeper than I originally thought Previous owner told me that everything is from nineties, not from 83. Plastic pieces are from same bike as they fix together nicely.
I just got it and dumping it after one day would be ... premature. I'll do my best to get this thing running, well at least moving on his own in some point of time. I tried to see any markings on the frame, but could not find any...
