Default Upgrades for 2005 Rincon 650

I have a friend with a 2005 Rincon 650. He is looking to add some more power to it as he is the slowest bike in our group by a long shot. My son's Wolvy 450 smokes him from beginning to end and he wants to put an end to the embarrassment. Does anyone have any experience with this bike and the best way to get some power out of it? Pipe? Big bore kit? Jetting kit? He is willing to write the check if it will give him the results he is looking for. Thanks for any input you might have.

why doesn't he just fix the Rincon first (or take his skirt off)? Why a big bore kit?

neither does a Wolvy 450 'smoking' a properly running Rincon. Haven't seen over 53mph posted for the 450 and I'm pretty sure it takes nearly as long to get to 50 as my brother's Grizzly 450. Just trying to help - have you checked the simple stuff like the air cleaner and spark arrestor?

That's alot of repairs. The 650 Rincon used to be mine and it has been slow since the day I bought it. It has had all the scheduled maintenance from Honda and the guys by me say that it is running fine. Only problem I ever had with it, outside of being slow, is keeping it lit. It kills when ever you get in the deep stuff or need to go from a stop to moving up a hill. I had a 2001 Rubicon 500 and it was twice the machine the 650 is. Only good point to the 650 is that it feels like you are riding around on a sofa. Nice cushy ride.

Thanks, I will work on the idle this weekend. That sounds like it might fix the staying lit problem. Any other suggestions?
