PLease HELP!! Banshe front brakes on 98 Blaster
#1
Hello all, I have a 98 Blaster and just bought front banshee brakes off ebay that came with the calipers disks and spindles. I was told that is would be a simple swap and that the banshee front brakes would fit but it seems not to fit. I noticed that the spindles on the banshee brakes do not match the ones my blaster . Would I be able to replace my upper a arm with banshee a arms to fix the problem. I am lost right now and need to know what the fix is for this mod. I am sick of the drums and really need these banshee brakes to complete my braking system.
I have also read on some other forums that i wouls have to machine out my spindle but i dont not understand that mod.
Fof those of you that know the blaster configuration fine, but for those of you who dont here you go: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...VWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem (This is my current a arm ans as you can see there isnt a nut that the spindle who attach to. Now looking at the banshe a arms: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...72QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem You will notice that is does have a nut on the end of the ball joint in which my spindle wouls attach to.
Now again I hope there is an easy fix for this and someone would be able to give me some detailed help. Hopefully these pics helped out to understand it. And for you guys that already did the mod, What do I do next?
Joe

i am not exaclty sure what u are asking but all youneed to do is swap the spindles and the brake setup and you will be good to go.

U have to drill the upper ball joint mount to 9/16 on the spindle and either drill and tap the upper spindle where the groove is on the actual ball joint, or weld it,which is method i used. Easy to grind off if the joint ever failed. then just make a bracket to hold junction box for the lines and ur all good

Wouldn't the heat from the welding, destroy the ball joint? I'm not sure I'd go the welded route.
I have been watching the ebay stuff for a while and think Iwould have purchased the 2003-2006 model Blaster Brake setup. They show up all the time, and are direct bolt on as far as I cna tell. I have an 87 with drum brakes, and the 2006 with the Hydraulic Dis set-up and there's apparently not a big difference.
The Steering stem part number is different on the later models also. I'm unsure as to the difference if any importance, but have already planned on getting the late model one for my brake changes. ( bought a 2003 frame off ebay to facilitate the rear brake setup, new a-arm bushings, rear brake switch, park brake/clutch lever assembly for late model, cables, and a few other odds and ends. Still need the front brake parts, except the master cylinder. Have it.)
I keep seeing the "UPGRADE YOUR BRAKES" ebay auctions for something other than Blaster brakes..... I knew there'd be an untold issue.
