Kodiak belt problem?
#1
Ok I think I burnt up my belt last night riding my 06 Kodiak through some deep water and then a steep incline. The bike was slipping and took a second to take off when I was trying to accelerate. I had water in the air box, so I drained that.
I let the bike sit for a while and now it wont even turn the wheels when I press the gas?
Does this sound like its a belt problem? Im a newb to ATV's.
Is it a hard thing to replace on my own?

Hey There,
Welcome to the site! They are not hard to replace on your own. You will need to remove the right side foot well, and the bolts all around the belt cover. I recomment when replacing the bolts you use ANTI-Seize compound as the bolts are steel going into threaded aluminum. Steel and Aluminum don't play well together and it is very easy to mess up the threads...
As far as replacing the belt it should be in your owners manual. I know that you will need to spread the secondary (rear clutch) to make removing the belt easier... I have never done it on a Yamaha quad, but many Yamaha and Skidoo sleds and even a Polaris quad.
so yes you can replace it.
