Default atc 200m '84 starting/electrical problem

Recently bought 3 atcs. Restored one of them now working on the second. honda atc 200m 84. There was no battery in it so I bought one and put it in, as soon as I connected the cables it tried to start non stop, like I was pressing the start button. It keeps doing this as long as the battery is connected.
On closer examination I believe I'm missing something. on the left side (crank side) there's a red wire not connected to anything, it has a pin or male plug. I also have a white plastic plug with two flat pins/male plugs in it not connected to anything either. That one has a black rubber casing on the outside of it. That one you need to take the seat off to see it but it's in the same area. I also see what appears to be a bracket for something that would be round right behind the battery area.
I cant compare because they're all different atc's, I also havent been able to pinpoint what's missing. Any help would be great. Thanks.

For the starting system you basically need wire going from the + side of the battery to one side of the starter selenoid (the thing you migh be missing and if somone tried to bypass it, that may be your problem. nothing i see suprised me anymore) a wire going from the other side of the starte selenoid (it should have two large studs and one or two smaller studs or connectors depending on if it has a honda selenoid or an aftermarket one) to the starter motor. You need one smaller wire coming from your start button to the starter selenoid and some selenoids ground when you bolt them up and some have a ground going to them.
Here it is again:
B+ to on side of selenoid
The other side of selenoid to starter motor
small wire from starter button to small connector on selenoid
And make sure the selenoid is grounded

You may want to get a test light, just remeber to check for voltage hook the end of the test light to a good ground and to check for a ground hook the test light to 12V.

If it looks like your system is wired up like this here are a couple of things i have run into: The starter button sticking (take apart the button at the bars and inspect to make sure the button is releasing.
I have also had starter selenoids short out inside which would make the engine continuously spin as you are describing also.
I hope this helps!!

Thanks a lot, I'll have a look tomorrow and post my findings. When I was fiddling with it that was my guess also that the starter could be faulty. I tried another one and had the same problems. At one point I disconnected all the wires the connect the light and ignition and starter and the engine was still spinning.
