My sons 2002 wont start, new batt. no lights come on when you turn key on.

 

may be it ex not sure but still wont start or crank over,
no one has ideas?????

 

You will have to test the ignition system .. If you know what year/model I can email you shop manual tests ..

i have had the same problem with my 93 ex. when i ride in the mud dirt gets lodged inbetween the battery cables. unscrew the cables off the battery and clean the cables and the battery off with a rag to get any dirt or mud off. it should run after this. i have to clean mine out all the time.

but i put new batt, in and nothing
I can put jumper wire aross and it will crank that way, but no spark or lights nutral light nither

The very first thing I would do, is have a look up at the handlebars where the ignition switch plugs into the harness, if that comes loose, it will cause the problem you discribe. If they are plugged in properly, and you suspect the ignition switch of being bad you can unplug the switch, and then take the two wires of the harness, just plug them into each other and see if that makes it work, if it does, its a bad switch.
