2005 Rancher 400 Es 4x4
#1
Has anyone ever had any problems with there Rancher running in Auto mode. Mine feels very slugish. It's very slow to pick up. Does fine in manual. Took it to the dealer they said that the clutch was out of adjustment. They adjusted it but it still does the same thing. Any ideals??
How often should I adjust the valves?
Thanks

Just for the record, I think you mean Rancher 400AT, which is a hydrodynamic trans that can be left in automatic or shifted manually by ESP. That's different from a Rancher "ES" with electronically shifted manual trans.

We are having the same problem. We took our 2005 Honda RancherAT to our local Honda dealer this spring for the recall ( Tie Rod Replacement), and told them to check it out, because it had no power in Automatic,( but like yours run fine in electic shift). They told us there was nothing wrong with it to just drive it( this is after driving it in thier flat parking lot.) So we took it to the mountains the following weekend to go on a big ride. When we started up the first steep slope, it would not go. It was like it was in high gear( a car starting out in 4th gear is what it felt like) So we swithed it over to electric shift and it worked fine. Well, it has been it the garage all summer and it is about to cool off enough for us to go riding again so we took it back to the dealer 2 weeks ago. We called today to check on it and they said nothing was wrong. Well we are going tomorrow to pick it up and show our butts. We got the extended warranty and want to get it fixed before it runs out. We are going to get the Honda Number for the people they are suppose to be talking with and see of we can get anywhere.

You should read the post previous to this one titled: 06 trx400AT shifting problem only in D
I am printing both of these and taking my '05 to the dealer. It does the exact same thing!
It's a problem with the centrifigual clutch and how it affects the shift pints
