I have a 02 Sportsman 700 that is sputtering when ever I go across an off camber to the left. If I feather the throttle I can keep it running, but if not it will die. It runs perfect other than that. It has been doing this for a while so it has had many tank of gas run through since I first noticed the problem. I have changed the fuel filters and cleaned the carb. Any ideas what might be happening?

 

fuel pickup in tank is bad unless its happening with full tank as well. only other thing i can think is floats in carb needed to be replaced, needles may be bad in carb. but its in carb for sure

 

i agree w/ it might be the float.

 

Yeah sounds like you float might be set a little high. Does it puff any black smoke when this happens?

 

It sputters now matter how much gas is in it. I don't notice any smoke. I guess it is time to get the carb off again and get it rebuilt.

 

if it runs fine on the flat it doesnt need to be rebuilt just adjust the float level should take care of it.
