hello i have a polaris 250 its getting gas but it seems the spark is week because it will not start up now and also sometimes the starter gear will pop out and stick out and not turn the flywheel over what should i do.Also can i get insurance for this 86 trailboss

 

bad coil, stator, cdi going bad. one of these things maybe. w/ it being that old insurance wouldnt be worth it unless its because the law requires it.

 

I would get a new battery, start it up and go for a ride. At the very least, load test the battery.

yes i put a new battery in it and a new spark plug i used the wrong one tho it works fine and now it is working good but the starter gear still pops out

 

I don't know how Polaris does their starters but on a Yamaha they have a one way bearing (sprag). This can and does go out. When this happens the sprag will slip and it won't turn the engine over.
Is this your problem? I don't know? Someone else will chime in and let you know.

I think he is right about that. That sounds like what happended to my dads and if I am not mistaking I think he had to have the starter rebuilt

 

As far as the insurance, you acn usually get it under your home owners, I think mine was about 50 a year, I had to have it to ride at our club.
