Using reverse & hi/lo range.
#1
I will be taking delivery of my new AC500 at the end of the month and was hoping that someone could answer my question.
My question is... When using reverse(manual trans), does the hi/lo gear lever make a difference? Or is it always the same gear when in reverse regardless of the hi/lo gear position.
It would be nice to have reverse low when backing it up on my pickup bed w/ramps.

Big difference. I use the low range reverse a lot when backing the 500 up the ramps into my truck. It gives me a lot better throttle control and I can creep up the narrow ramps with a lot more confidence and control than in high range.

Well, like the others said. There are 2 reverse gears. High and low reverse. Reverse it self is between 1st and 2nd gear. It will get moveing in high reverse. I can do about 20mph I bet in reverse if I wanted to at the red line tho.

mckrim--I spliced into the wire for the fan, between the fuse and the fan, ran a wire to the switch and back to the same wire. I mounted the switch near my indicator lights and when I get into really deep water, I try to remember to turn off the fan to keep the fuse from blowing. (although I sometimes forget and blow the fuse anyway) I used an illuminated switch, so I can tell at a glance if the fuse is still good or not. If the fuse blows, the switch is no longer illuminated. It was really quite a simple job. Hope this helps. If not, maybe I could draw up a simple diagram and send it to you! Good luck.

Thanks vtCatamount for the info sounds to me like you killed two birds with one stone ...that is an automatic fuse checker and fan cut off....
I'm getting started on it tomorrow.
Again thank's for you time.
