I have an 07 800 Sportsman EFI (single exhaust) and have noticed that where the Y-pipe turns into single pipe turns cherry red. I inquired at my dealership and they re-calibrated the fuel system. It still does it. I do not get any temp warnings on the bike itself ....just noticed the cherry red y-pipe. Would a air fi;ter and better flowing muffler help the problem....since i was going to pipe it anyway. Any recommendations on type of aftermarket exhaust I should put on .

I have a 700 sportsman that does the same thing. Did you figure out your problem?

I would change out the Y pipe. polaris has a different header pipe where the 2 go into 1 behind your leg, helps a lot more. White brothers makes a good muffler for polaris, you can calibrate it the way you want it by just adding or taking away rings in it. as for the red in the pipe. they all do it as far as i've seen

Nope problem still exists. Put a K&N Air Filter on it and a Aaen slip on pipe for better exhaust flow. Still turned red for 4-6 inches. I am thinking of putting true duals on it. My friend has the same bike but its an 06 with Polaris factory duals and his bike does not do this.

There is nothing wrong with it. I have 2 sp 700s and a raptor 700. All of them glow red on the pipe at the head when they idle. The only time you notice it is when it is dark out. The pipes are so thin that they dont take much to start glowing. The 03 700 has 2500 miles on it and never has had a problem.
