700efi shutting off
#3
yes. you crank it sometimes it will spit and spudder then die. when it shuts off after trying to restart it sounds like the fuel pump kicks on again. its not showing any codes. lot of people keep saying sounds like the coil.

I have a 2007 500 EFI X2 that does that on occasion. When I go from full throttle to quick stop, it dies when I get back on it. Cranks right up though. I think it's just one of those EFI 'bugs' that they haven't completely worked out yet.

I have not had this problem with my Polaris 700EFI, but recently had the same scenario with my Rhino. After taking it to two dealers, it was discovered the fuel filter was the problem. Under five bucks and I was on my way.

I have a 2004 700efi. I have been haveing trouble also. you can ride for about an hour or so then it dies. as if it runs out of gas. let it set for awhile and it starts and runs fine for a while.

I have the same trouble. I also am looking for help other than the dealer$$$$ they said it could be the fuel pump $ 450.00 plus labor (ouch) their are some codes you can check. turn your key on 3 times within 5 sec. the 3'rd time leave it on it will blink a code # if something is bad. You can call the dealer and ask them what the code is or put it up and i have a list of them.

I have the same problem with my '04 700 efi. The local dealer charged me $90 to tape two worn wires and said it "was fixed", that it showed no service codes and the fuel pressure was good. I thas happened many more time and a shot of starter fluid gets it to hit but it must cool down for 10 minutes then runs fine again for awhile. I talked to 2 other dealers. One said it would have to show codes and the other said the only time he has seen one die without a code showing up was with a bad crank postion sensor that tells it when to inject fuel. This seems the most likely, but could the fuel pump or filter just act up when hot? Other lines on this forum report that there are replacement pumps out there you can use without replacing the whole tank like the dealer says. Has anyone had any experience with this? How bad is it to replace this crank sensor? Thanks.
