Default timing mark

I am trying to adjust my valves on a 1988 300TRX fourtrax. Which timing mark do I use?? There is a few that look like this: F l, T l, and l l

When I line it up on the line to the right of the T, the valves are too tight to even get the feeler gauge in there. This is really confusing.

You line up the " T l " (TDC) if the valves are tight you maybe on the wrong stroke and have to turn the engine over to the " T l " again ..

Thank You. I was on the stroke. I got it all done and now it's running good again.
