What is the best front tire for a Scrambler 500 4x4 for mudding and racing that will provide a lot of pulling traction? Not paddles.

I have a 99 SC500 4x4, and I am getting ready to buy the Holeshot XCTs, stock size. I have looked at the Bandits and the run-flat Tracker P EMTs from Goodyear. The Goodyears are about $91 each, however. Here's the link:

http://www.goodyear.com/us/tires/tir...RAC_P_EMT.html

I ruled out the Bandits because I have a friend that bought his 400ex with Bandits and he did not like them. According to him they were good on loose dirt and roads, but too hard and just spun on trails, which is where I ride the most.

My reason for the Holeshots is that I know someone with a Tecate that has ridden on them for a good while and really likes them. They supposedly have excellent sidewall protection, and are 4 ply, also they should have a good bite in 4wd on my Scram. I ordered Bearclaws for the rear, not in yet.

If anyone has a stellar Scrambler tire combination, please post.

easteregg, When you went to the 11 inch rim, what rim did you use that fit the bolt pattern and offset for the scrambler. Was it another polaris tire from a different machine? I hear lots of positives on the bear claws but I dont think they make one for the front on a 10" rim.

Is the Cornering/handling performance close to that of the holeshots and bandits or just slighly better then the stock tires? Thanks gj

The front wheels are Douglas .190`s I ordered all 4 wheels and tires through Chapparall they said the front wheels had to be special made. I think it was just because they didn`t have any in stock because they were the same price. The fronts are the same width and off set as stock just 11" instead of 10" so I could get the Bearclaws for the front because they don`t make them for a 10". As far as handling goes it was like night and day much better than stock. They did ride a little rough but I lowered the air pressure and it seemed to help. The Titans roll over easier than a lap dog in the corners. I don`t have any experience with Holeshots. I would think they are comperable in most conditions. HTH

As far as Holeshot front tires go, me and four buddies all bought them, every tire we got leaked, slime or any of those products didn't work. The rears were fine. I have since put Razrs on the front of my quad, as did one of my buddies. We are both very happy with their performance. As long as you don't mind putting air in your tires before each ride, they are fine.

On another note, my other buddy ordered Douglas rims from Chapparell, they billed his credit card immediately, but he didn't get his rims for two months. They wouldn't refund his cash, and insisted the rims were on their way each time he called.

I put ITP Holeshot XCT's all round on T9 alloy wheels on my 400 4x4. I do mostly trails, some muddy, and a bit of racing, flat track, gravel sprint etc. I have never had a flat, and never had leakage in 2 years. My buddy with a 500 4x4 got them at the same time, and he has had a good run with them as well. no flats and no leaks. They have great traction in most contitions, but deep gooey mud and soft sand are a bit of a let down.

Buy them dude, you won't be dissapointed.

PS. I have heard a number of cases where the ITP wheels are not put together properly, and cause leakage between the two pieces.

I to use Holeshot XCTs on my 98 Scrambler400. They are wonderful. They have great grip in all but the deepest mud. I was really suprised at how well they turned. The stock Titans seemed to wander and were slow to change direction. The Holeshots did not wander and made my quad turn much better.

I have had no problems with them leaking air and they are holding up well.

A buddy runs Holeshots up front and Maxxis All Traks on the rear of his 98 Sport and they also work very well. I believe they even work better in the mud than the Holeshots. I know this since he let me put his wheels on to try them out.

For those that have Bearclaws on the front--How do they affect the steering of your quad?

Thanks

Paul

I like the Bearclaws on the front they are a vast improvement over the stock tire. For the type of riding I do which is a lot of mud not just deep mud but a lot of wet muddy trails they do hook up well and bite in the corners good. I have had no problem with air leakage either. Most aftermarket tires inspire you feel more confident in your machines ability and you tend to use it harder if you know what I mean.
