im looking into getting 26" mudrunners and im not sure what ones to get. do i need 26x10x12, 26x12x12 or 26x12x10 for the rear??

i think later on i would like to put them on ITP magnums. so would that affect the size that i get?? i have the stock rims now.

thanks

The wider ones would be heavier and I dont know that the extra width would be worth it, but thats just my opinion. I got the 25" versions for my Kodiak and they are great. I went with 25x8x10 front and 25x10x12 rear. Those happened to be the same size as the stock dunlops so I went with those sizes to avoid any rubbing on my winch and to keep the weight down.

The 26 is the over all height, (all though most manufactures lie) 12 would be the width, then the 12, or 10 would be the diameter of rim. Is your rim 10 inches or 12? As for the width of the tires, you know the father they stick out from the fender the muddier you'll get. Just something to think about...

There are some concerns.

Stock wheel size for the rear of the SP500 is 10", where the magnum wheels are 12", so if you buy tires for the stock rims the will be the 26x12x10, but if you want tires for the magnum rims, you will need to buy 26x12x12 for the rear.

So you have to buy the tires for your stock wheels and forget about magnums (or buy new rear tires when you get the magnums!) or forget about the tires for now until you go for the Magnum rims and get the tires at the same time.

By the way, the front wheels are the same for the Magnum wheel and the stock wheel so no worries there.

There are known "rubbing" problems with the 26" MudRunners, so be careful. If you just putz around it's fine, but in a rough situation, they do rub. It's really not worth it for the extra "one-half inch" that you gain by going from 25" to 26". That half inch more of ground clearance will get you decreased performance, decreased handling, increased drivetrain wear, more weight, higher gearing, poor acceleration, and rubbing on the body parts, but for some reason I guess that's what everyone wants.

One added factor, in snow they give you more flotation, which is what you don't want if you want to move.

If you want to decrease performance and handling even more, get a lift kit and 27" or 28" tires and find out how really awful an atv can steer and ride.

I have had little to no trouble while using these tires no lift and no rubbing hell even small jumps no rubbing. Sounds to me like you have struts that are weak .My 99 sp 500 rubbed but it was a set of weak struts once there replaced no rubbing imagine that. Hell it would even rub with stock rubber on the thing. So for rubbing and bad ride and poor handling and poor snow performance I think your wrong But for poor acceleration You are right Damn right. But each to his own i like my mudrunners and for me wanting a different tire it is becuse i like to change everyonce in awile. Maybe i will find something i like better.

thanks all for your help

now i just have to decide what i want to get first the ITP magnums or the mudrunners. i think i want 26" rather than 25" because of the width and i do a lot of snow riding.

i think ill get the spring spacers from polaris to prevent any rubbing in the front.
