Default troubleshoot 07 wolverine

Hi all, new to your forum. I have 2- 2007 wolverine special editions. Both are bone stock. About 50 hours on them. Maintenance by stealership as needed. I want to learn to work on these myself. I'm a fairly competant jeep mechanic. One atv has been rolled and drowned. Teenager driving LOL. It still starts easy, idles normally but has no top end. Top speed is about 27 mph by the speedometer. The other one gets about 38-41 mph. I have removed and cleaned the carb (it appeared clean) cleaned the air filter. replaced spark plug, old one had carbon on it. Any ideas where to start? Should I change oil/transmission fluids? They appear clean. Could it be the culprit? And what is the thing on the top of the carb that appers to be vacuum controled?

Ok by drowned do you mean it had too much fuel dumped into the motor or you got it in deep wateR?

If you got it in a creek or anything I would pull the clutch cover on it and see if you have all the grease slung out of the primary clutch, as that will cause the belt to slip and the bike will not get up to speed. As far as the one that gets between 38-41 that is still a little slow, as most of them run about 10-13 mph faster.

Drowned in the water. South Florida summer. Where can I get specific instructions on pulling clutch cover? I pulled the cover off the side with the belt, it was dirty so I cleaned it out and there was some grease as well.

ok that is the right side, you need to pull off the clutch and repack it with some new grizz grease from yamaha , here is a link to how to do everything here
