Looking for the best used 4 Wheeler
#1
I was wondering what everyones opinions might be here, I use to have a 87 Yamaha Warrior 350, long time ago I know, my daughter is now 11 years old and able to have an ATV, so I wanted to buy one for her and one for me.
She is about 70lb's and all girl, no tom boy. But she wants her own 4 wheeler, I'm "59" about 195lb's and have no problems with riding whatever.
So I'm looking for 2 used 4 wheelers, sport bikes with reverse, something she won't outgrow to soon, but not something to big for her either. Mine will get some light hauling from time to time, but not much. We will mostley be using them for trail riding, around the house or maybe some state parks occasionally.
My wife would also want to ride my daugters sometimes so it needs to be big enough for an adult in the 130Ib range.
I want something that's kind of an all around good ATV, I've been looking at the Yamaha Warrior's just because that's what I use to own, and I never had any problems with it.
What would you all suggest, and has anyone bought ATV'S off e-bay with good results?
This will be a christmas present to so it is a surprise.

I would suggest the 400 class for you. Both the Honda 400EX and Suzuki Z400 are excellent machines. Honda only added reverse a few years ago, so be sure to look for that on older machines.
Got to be honest and point out that I rode a Warrior for years, and it was the worst of all the dozen or so machines I have ever owned. It is an old tired design anyway, so just pass that one up.....
Lots of 11 year olds can handle the 250 class, but you daughter is on the light side. The Honda 90 is big for a kids quad and would probably be perfect for her. Is she likely to grow a lot any time soon??? If so, don't want to get something she will outgrow to quickly.
The 90 will be to small for the wife, so finding a machine for both the wife and daughter might be a challenge. The 250 class are great beginners machines. The Honda is a simple autoclutch machine, which helps beginners learn to shift. Maybe a Blaster if they are willing to learn a full manual left hand clutch??? The new Raptor 250 looks hot (full manual clutch as well), but you won't find one used.

So the yamaha warrior is really not a great choice, being that I've been out of the dirt for so long I don't really have a clue as to what's good and what's not anymore, I'm a little uncomfortable buying an atv on e-bay, I have bought other things with great success but never anything like this.
I'm looking at a really clean yamaha 2003 warrior for about 2450, but sounds like its a primitive atv by todays standards, I'm woundering if I should just go back to some of the dealers and ask to ride some of them, I'd like to buy new but buying 2 at the same time is alot of money, I realy like the Raptor 250 and 350 and the Polaris Outlaw 525, for me, but they are out of my price range, (my budget is 5000 to 7000 for the purchase of 2 ATV's) I think the Phoenix 200 might be good for my 11 year old girl.
I'm having a hard time deciding, the auction is up on the warrior on Sunday so I'm researching as quickly as I can, thanks for everyones answers, and if anyone else wants to chime in please let me here your opinions.
Thanks

I am selling my warrior it great, I would recamend that or a scarmbler, it's alittle big but it's great (that's what I'm going to buy). I am buying brand new but wouldn't recamend it for her first, let her decide what she wants then buy new. MAKE SURE SHE LIKES IT BEFORE YOU BUY.
