#1
okay guys My plastic oil tank is coming apart, it is spliting in two, and I dont want to replace it with another plastic one, Any one think that a metal one off, of an older machine will work on a 2005 sportsman 400? I cant belive they use plastic for this.

I can't believe they don't make a aftermarket one yet!!!...........You can buy just about anything else!!!!!................I think later on down the road when more need to be replaced ..you will then see a market for a AL or metal tank!!!.....Caper..........

It believe the aluminum tanks are still available through Polaris for around $74.00.
Its part # 5131255. In mid year 2002 they went to the plastic tanks.
I think the benefits of the aluminum would be better heat transfer for cooling with the metal and if it leaks you can reseal it because it is bolted together. Its definitly stronger. The mounting may be different.
The only benefits of the plastic is lighter weight and cheaper to make.
