Default Heated grips

It's starting to get cold here in the midwest. I was planning on purchasing a seat of heated hand grips from Cabelas this week.

I have read alot of posts where guys are hooking them up to their head lights. When I take my pod off which wire (color) am I looking for?

Does anyone have a suggestion where to hook them up other that the headlights? It would be nice to have the heated grips when I don't feel like having the headlights on.

Thanks

The ATV winter pak from Cabella's (cheapest I found) is a very nice setup and I hooked mine up to the accessory wiring. It goes on and off with the key, doesn't require anything else (lights) to be on and there is plenty of capacity. Follow the directions exactly with the WD-40 and you won't have a problem (make sure you heat them up first too).

I love 'em for cool days in the fall set on low - for plowing set up a little higher and even to warm my hands on high in the evening after sitting in the deer stand all day.

The thumb warmer is a gotta have also.

Personally I like the Pure Polaris grips. They stick to the bars themselves so you can put whatever grips you want over them. The switches are really small so they don't take a lot of room up on your pod.

As for the power wire, I went off the 12 volt plug in.

Thanks for all the info. I checked out hotgrips and as fas as I can tell they don't sell a thumb warmer. It's a shame I do like the different styles and grips that they do carry.

I also have the Polaris hand and thumb warmer. Hooked to the acc plug. I also put the Polaris hand guards on. They keep your hands out of the wind and make them feel warmer. All I use is the low setting most of the time. They have worked fine for me, three winters now.

Mine came with my wheeler, and I love them. Polaris factory installed, so I have no idea what wire they used. I would suggest you use a spare wire if available. The amp draw on high could be a little high to run of the lighting circuit, over time anyway.
