Default polaris scrambler engine trouble

My 2003 scrambler 500 2/4 used to have the H.O. in it but the guy that had it before me put the H.O. in his 500 sportsman and put teh 500 sporsman engine in the scrambler. I have the 34 carb )the one in the sportsman) and the scrambler is suposed to have the 40. I Have a shop manuel for the polarises but don't get were teh pilet adjuster is on the carb. It looks to me like it is in the bole. does anyone have any information on this? do i have to take the carb off every time i need to adjust it? Thanks for any information

it is probably behind a plug in the carb somewhere. the carbs are preset at the factory and sealed so they cant be messed with. dont have my book in front of me to make sure but im gonna say thats probably where it is.

my book shows teh pilot adjuster in teh bole of teh carb with a sprint and 2 o-rings the jet was all the way in tight when i took it out prob from prev owner and i couldn't get teh sprint out it was wedged in teh tube. if i am right i would have to take the carb off and apart just to adjust it. it sais the pilet jet has to be 2 and 5/8 turns out and to adjust it 1/4 turn when it gets cold out.

OK i talked to the last owner and it is the sportsman engine and carb on the machine i foung the adjustment and the adjuster is right infron of the float boal and it was 4 and 1/2 turns out the book sais it should be 2 and 5/8 turns out so that explains the black plugs and backfirering. i put the carb on and plumed it up left everything else off and started it up. it fired right up after filling the bole. it reved right up witch it never did when i owned it in 3 years. because teh pilot adjustment was coved with mud. but after 20 seconds of running it started to bog and fuel came flowing out of the carb. when the carb was out i checked the float adjustment and it looked good it shut off when i blew in the fuel hole and opend when the float droped and i didn't hear any sloshing in the floats any idea on what can cause this? I am going to recheck the float adjust ment again. thanks

the needle valve probably has some trash in it..will cause the float not to close fuel flow and overflow your carb.
