Default Honda 300trx 1992 Carb leak

Hello everyone,

I have a big problem with my atv. Whenever I let it sit fuel leaks out of the overflow in the carb. I have taken it apart numerous times and even took it to a mechanic but I still have the problem.

I am pretty sure the problem is that the valve is not seating into the carb body properly to shut off the incoming fuel. I have installed a new float and valve but still have the problem.

The only thing that I can think of doing now is to replace the entire carb body for $300 or take the carb to a machine shop and have it polished or machined.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I hope to hear from you.

Thanks,
Ryan

Yes, I have to shut off the fuel every time that I am done with it. Sometimes it's hard to get started because its flooded. When I turn off the fuel right when I'm done it doesn't leak at all so it must be that valve.

my atc used to do that alot i mean alot every day it did and i finnaly took it apart and there was something cloged in the needle valve that idels the gas to the carb got an idea take your carb apart once again lol and drain all the gas out than hold it up side down while holding the float down and blow threw the gas tube and if it blows threw you might need to adjust your float or get a new needle valve have you got a carb kit latly

Ryan

Take off the primer assembly and check the diaphram
I have seen these go bad and leak fuel past them when sitting
Just went through the same thing as you have, I replaced the float valve, float etc... and it would not stop running over when sitting
My primer diaphram had a rip in it. Replaced it and no fuel has leaked since

I have to warn you that the replacement parts are around $70 so make sure that is the issue before spending the cash. Try one off a buddies carb first.
