110 and 90cc tranny adjustment questions
#1
My bro inlaw bought 2 of those little chinese quads for my boys for christmas.
One is a 90 and 1 is a 110. My boys are 4 and 5. Yeah they are a little large. When you turn the throttle stop screw down to govern the speed you loose all bottom end. I was wonsering if anybody knew how the auto tranny worked in these things so maybe I could do a little tweeking and get it to grab a little sooner.
Is it a centrifigul clutch or belt driven. Is there a way to make give it some bottom end without making it go 40mph? Any help would be great.

More than likely, they are the centrifugal clutch type. There is no adjustment for these clutches. You'll probably have to change the sprockets to account for the throttle limiter. I'm thinking about changing the front sprocket on my sons quad to help overcome this issue. Yours is probably like mine and everyone elses Chinese kids quads, way too fast unrestricted. Mine will do way over 30mph with me on it uncorked. I want to give him more throttle, but want to limit his top speed. I've read about some changing to a 11 or 12 tooth front sprocket and this having a huge change in the take-off power. I think mine has a 14 tooth sprocket right now.

If that is the case then you should be able to change the springs and have it engage sooner. Also changing the front sprocket should help quite a bit as should going larger on the rear sprocket could help also.
Where to get the sprockets?
