Warrior head light bulbs, oil, filter, chain?
#1
Just bought a 2003 warrior with no owners manual. Until I receive mine in the mail I need a little help.
1 Head light bulb size? can i buy them at a hardware store?
2 How much oil do i need for a oil change? What kind is recommended?
3 Does the machine have a oil filter that needs to be replaced with oil change? wheres is located on bike?
4 Is the chain slack/tension affected by my weight? do i need to tighten chain while my weight is on the bike?:confused.

1: seriously doubt you can find headlight bulbs any where but from a Yamaha dealer or an online ATV shop.
2: A Warrior takes about 2.75 quarts to fill. Any oil suitable for wet clutches is fine. I run Yamalube in mine.
3:It does have an oil filter on the left of the engine by the gear shifter with 3 allen head screws. You don't need to change it with every oil change. You may want to change it this time so you know it is fresh.
4:Chain slack is affected by weight. If you are off the bike and tighten it to have about 1/2"-3/4" up/down motion then it should be fine when you get on the bike, as it will tighten up when you get on it.
5: This may help until you get your book in: http://www.sandwizards.com/Service_Manuals/warrior.pdf

Yes it has an oil filter. It is on the left side by the shifter with three bolts holding it. I don't know how much oil it holds just fill it till it is full. I hear adjusting the chain both ways. The manual says not to sit on. Some people do I don't. You would probably have to get the bulb from a place that sells cycle stuff.

Here we go....Headlight bulb, take one out that you have and take to an auto parts store or your local bike shop. The part number is not listed in the manual. I've always filled my oil up until "full" They usually take some stupid amount of oil...like 1.7 quarts. Can't be 1.5 or 2, but 1.7. Your Warrior however will be happy with 2.5 quarts if you do not replace the filter or 2.6 if you do. When you remove the oil drain plug, there is a compression spring, strainer and o-ring. The spring can/will cause the whole shebang to fall right into the oil pan....guarantee it! The book calls for 23 ft-lbs. of torque when you re-install the drain plug. The book also recommends that you check oil pressure now too. They ask that you slightly loosen the oil gallery bolt on the cylinder head while the engine is running. If no oil is present after one minute, shut it off- restart and check again. The oil filter is on the left side of the engine, when seated on the quad. It's right above the foot peg/shifter and is held on with three allen head bolts. Chain slack should be about 1.5 inches while unloaded, if more you need to adjust. Good luck!
